berlin calling

BERLIN CALLING is an extraordinary story that starts in pre-war Berlin, spans three generations, and concludes in the dark and sweaty rock n' roll clubs that line the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.

JAKOB WASSERMAN was a tailor who lived in Berlin. He was murdered by the Nazis in 1942.

BENJAMIN WASERMAN was a young teenager in war-torn Berlin. After his father's murder, and with no papers, he went into hiding before being captured by the Nazis in 1943 and sent to a Concentration Camp in Theresienstadt, Czechoslavakia. He is now a small business owner living in Houston, Texas.

KASTLE WASERMAN is a punk fan who grew up listening to the Clash, the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. In 1985 she gave herself a mohawk haircut, defied her parents and ran away to Los Angeles where she now works as a writer.

In BERLIN CALLING Kastle Waserman suspects her father's history as a Holocaust survivor and her teenage rebellion are somehow intertwined. She confronts her father about his life running from the Nazis and embarks on a journey that will take her from Los Angeles to Berlin, where she searches for her Grandfather's grave and visits the villa where Hitler's Final Solution was hatched, before reaching Theresienstadt where she is finally able to examine the defining elements of her youth.

BERLIN CALLING is produced and directed by award winning director Nigel Dick.
